Umeda Sky Building is why first-timer maps of Kita point north of the station. Hara Hiroshi designed the two 40-storey towers with a rooftop ring, the Floating Garden Observatory, at 173 m. Adults pay ¥2,000, children ¥500. Osaka Amazing Pass holders enter free until 15:00 on the days the pass covers. Buy on the plaza or as a web ticket through Asoview. The observatory is 09:30–22:30 every day, last entry 22:00. The dedicated gate sits on the 3rd-floor plaza. Tower East and Tower West office lifts do not reach it. From 35F an open-air escalator crosses to the ring. The roof walk is the point of the ticket. JR Osaka Station is about ten minutes north through Grand Front and Umekita Park. This is an observatory, not a shopping centre. Pair a late-afternoon ticket with the park in daylight.
