North of JR Osaka the winter that people who work in Kita actually use is a walk, not a ticket. Grand Front Osaka TMO and Umekita MMO light 156 trees in champagne gold from 4 November 2026 to 28 February 2027, 17:00–24:00. About 510,000 LEDs. You step out of the north exits and you are already in it.
Start under the zelkova, not at the observatory
Tourist copy still sends first-timers to the Sky Building arch first. That is an eight-minute walk past this light, into Oyodo, and it costs 2,000 yen if you go up. The gold row is free and it sits on the path you already take from the station to the park. Walk Grand Front North to South under the zelkova. Keep going into Grand Green. This year North Park inside Umekita Park and the ginkgo mall at Umekita Green Place join the map. That is why the bulb count is higher than last winter.
Power is billed as RE100 renewable electricity in most zones. Hours run to midnight, so a late train still catches the trees. Saturday at 18:00 is the crush. A weekday after 20:00 is the version office workers see on the way to Hankyu Higashidori or home through the park.
The indoor tree is a different room
GRAND WISH CHRISTMAS is the 14th edition. It is not the outdoor gold. It is a cluster of trees in Knowledge Plaza on Grand Front North 1F, theme Evergreen Forest, tied to the 20 November opening of Umekita no Mori in the park. VELVETA DESIGN runs a light shower and an @aroma mix of flowers and wood. Shows hit every 15 minutes. Weekdays from 16:00, weekends from 15:00, last show 23:45. The tree comes down on 25 December. The gold outside stays until 28 February. If you only have one evening, do the plaza walk first. Add the indoor show if you still have 20 minutes and want to stand still.
Disney Gift of Story runs the same dates across Grand Front and Grand Green: photo spots, a stamp rally, a pop-up. Stall-level detail was still due in late October as of 16 October. Do not invent a stamp map before the TMO posts it.
Tuesday 22 December, not the 23rd
Grand Santa Parade in UMEKITA is Tuesday 22 December. Listings that kept last year's Wednesday habit are wrong. The 30 September TMO and MMO release is the date. About 650 people walked it last year in Santa clothes, handing out presents and picking up litter. Signup and the exact route go up in early November on the Grand Front and Grand Green sites. Spectators can stand on Umekita Plaza without a form. If you want to walk, wait for the form. Do not invent a meeting point.
Umekita no Mori is scheduled to open 20 November, inside this light window. Check umekita.com for lawn rest days before you picnic. The ice rink Tsurun-tsurun usually sits on Umekita Plaza from late November. As of 16 October the MBS page still showed last season. Refresh that page before you pack skates.
